Do you need your newspapers delivered to your door?

Unfortunately due to cost issues the Co-Op has stopped delivering daily newspapers, however there is another supplier called Newsteam who can take over daily deliveries.

Before you throw it out ... donate it

Furniture and household goods can be re-used by local community organisations, which helps the local environment and helps local people.

They can collect your unwanted items, do them up and pass them onto someone else who needs them.

They need:

Beds, Mirrors, Drawers, curtains, wardrobes, tables, tvs and electricals, chairs, sofas, armchairs,
washing machines and tumble driers, cookers, fridge freezers & bicycles

They prefer items that are working but they can do basic repairs if necessary.

Shawbury Parish Council

Community Service Awards

The parish council will recognise individuals and groups who have given outstanding service to the parish by presenting annual community service awards.

Written nominations need to be made by March 1st each year to the Parish Clerk:

The award will be in the form of a glass plaque, and they will be awarded at the annual parish meeting held in may.

Council members wish to thank Group Captain James, Commanding Officer at RAF Shawbury who has generously offered to sponsor the awards.

Shawbury Parish Council

The parish council has been awarded quality council status. This is a national award which recognises achievements and training.

A certificate was presented to council members at their last meeting.

The parish clerk deserves special mention for the splendid job he does and for the part he played in the achievement.

Community car scheme

A car scheme is available to anyone (who cannot get there otherwise) who needs to get to the hospital, the surgery, dentist or any other appointment. There would be a charge for mileage. Please contact 251796 for more info.


An issue has been raised at the last PACT meeting. For nuisance, dangerous or obstructive parking the police need to be informed on 08457444888.

For illegal parking (e.g. double yellow lines) phone 01743281000, Shrewsbury council will pass the details onto their external agency to be dealt with.
